The courtroom fills with giggles as judge Connors quarrels with jury member Shane Cooper, but all quiet down as Judy, the defense lawyer team captain, confidently presents her opening statement.

The defense calls their first witness to the stand, Josiah Lincoln (Pier), also known as Crooks. The courtroom becomes silent when Judge Connors bangs the gavel as chatter starts. As the defense kept trying to call sidebars and objections the courtroom becomes anxious for Matt, the prosecution lawyer, and Josiah Lincoln, the defense witness being examined.
