Today, the defense called on another one of their witnesses. His name is Slim Johnson. Mr. Johnson is a 42 year old migrant worker who is working on the Tyler Ranch to earn money to help support his family. He gets to know the ranch hands well. Mr. Johnson met Mr. Milton and Mr. Small when they arrived at the ranch. Mr. Johnson got to know both of them really well but he got to know Mr. Milton a bit better because they talked to each other more. He noticed that Mr. Milton and Mr. Small were like brothers. He never witnessed Mr. Milton taking Mr. Small’s money. According to the Mr. Johnson, Mr. Milton cared about Mr. Small and never wanted to hurt him. Mr. Johnson did not witness the murder of Mr. Small and he believes that Mr. Milton is not guilty of murder. After the defense’s questions, the prosecution cross-examined Mr. Johnson. He firmly believes that Mr. Milton and Mr. Small supported each other and were very close to one another. When the prosecution asked Mr. Johnson if Mr. Milton and Mr. Small could be good friends even though Mr. Small has an intellectual disability, he replied, “Just because Mr. Small didn’t understand Mr. Milton sometimes, that doesn’t mean they couldn’t be friends”. Mr. Johnson also said that Mr. Milton used to play pranks on Mr. Small when they were younger that did sometimes hurt him. But Mr. Milton has matured and he doesn’t do those things anymore. And, even though they did have arguments, that is normal. Everyone argues sometimes. Mr. Johnson added a lot of good information to the court that will be discussed as the trial against Mr. George Milton continues.
