Today is September 27. The trial against George Milton for the death of Lennie Small continues to escalate, intriguing many. The first witness the prosecution called up to the stand today was Marie Jones. She knew George and Lennie years ago, back when they worked in Weed, California where she lives. She experienced an incident with Lennie in which he once grabbed onto her dress for dear life, and even when she told him to quit, he just held on tighter. Now, Marie has a little brother and husband. During her direct examination, she described George and Lennie’s relationship as weird, aggressive, and abusive (on George’s part) even though she had thought they were friends. Marie told the court how George got mad when Lennie wouldn’t listen to him. Also, she told how even though George stopped Lennie from continuing to hold onto her dress, George got a fence picket after the fact and hit Lennie over the head with it. She thought that George was actually going to kill Lennie with the fence tool. The whole scenario scared Marie to her core. During her cross examination, she told the defense how she reported her scare with Lennie as an attack, but not as rape. The defense also brought up how Marie once acknowledged George to have ‘snake like eyes’. Ms. Jones said that George and Lennie happened to disappear from her life after the incident, and she eventually forgot about them.
