This is a classic and delicious dessert recipe from the United States in the 1930’s!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup cocoa powder
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup cold water
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F.
Step 2: In a 8 inch square baking pan whisk together the dry ingredients.
Step 3:Use a spoon to make three wells in the dry ingredients, one large well and two smaller wells. Pour the oil into the largest well, then pour the vinegar into one of the smaller wells and the vanilla extract into the last well and mix all ingredients together.
Step 4: Bake for at least 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 5: Let cool for 5 minutes and add powdered sugar (optional).
